CSV Validator for Problems
You Can Trace to a Row

Use this CSV validator to inspect a pasted table or local file before importing, sharing, or converting it. Review parsed columns, structural warnings, and spreadsheet-sensitive values in one report, with source row references where available. Processing stays in your browser; download a report or an optional normalized CSV after review.

A CSV validator that separates structure from risk

A file can parse into rows and still contain problems that matter later. This CSV validator reports structural warnings and spreadsheet-sensitive values separately: a short row may need correction, while a leading-zero identifier may already be correct and need protection during import.

  1. 01

    Add CSV data

Paste a table or select a local file. The browser detects its delimiter, keeps quoted separators and embedded line breaks inside their fields, and shows the detected format without sending the source to a conversion server.

  2. 02

    Review structure and source rows

Use the CSV linter result to review parser warnings, inconsistent field counts, duplicate or empty headers, and representative source rows. The preview keeps extra values visible instead of hiding them during diagnosis.

  3. 03

    Review value risks before download

Check formula-like values, leading-zero identifiers, and long numbers separately from parsing errors. Download the diagnostic report or an optional normalized CSV only after deciding which source problems still require manual correction.

name,postal_code,postal_code,note
Ada,00123,02108,ready
Lin,90210,10001,=2+2
Sam,60601

In the converter, choose Use sample, then Validate and preview. Expect 3 data rows and 4 columns, with a duplicate-header warning, a short source row 4, two leading-zero values, and one formula-like cell. Review these findings before downloading a report or normalized CSV.

What CSV validation cannot certify

  • A CSV validator can report structural and spreadsheet risks, but it cannot certify full RFC 4180 or business-schema compliance.
  • It does not guess how to repair arbitrary source damage; a normalized export does not replace review.
  • Files are limited to 10 MB or 50,000 data rows, whichever comes first.

CSV validator questions before import

Direct answers about row checks, delimiters, encoding, automatic repair, reports, and local processing.

How do I validate CSV files online?

To validate CSV data online, paste the data or select a local file, confirm the detected delimiter and header setting, then choose Validate and preview. The CSV validator displays the issue summary, source row references, and table preview before you download a report or normalized CSV.

What problems does the CSV validator find?

The CSV validator reports parser warnings, inconsistent field counts, duplicate or empty headers, formula-like values, leading-zero identifiers, and long numbers. It keeps extra values visible and provides representative row numbers when the parser can locate them.

Does the CSV checker repair my file automatically?

No. The CSV checker diagnoses the parsed structure and makes limited transformations visible, such as unique display names for duplicate headers. This CSV validator does not infer the intended repair for missing quotes, shifted values, wrong delimiters, or business-rule violations.

Can a CSV linter check encoding and delimiters?

This CSV linter reads UTF-8, UTF-16 little endian, UTF-16 big endian, and Windows-1252 fallback, while the parser records the detected delimiter. The CSV validator uses practical rather than universal encoding detection, so confirm the preview whenever characters look wrong.

Is my file uploaded when I use the CSV validator online?

No. The CSV validator online runs file reading, parsing, issue detection, preview, report generation, and optional export locally in your browser. You do not need an account, and the source is not sent to a conversion server. You can check CSV online without transferring its contents to DataFormatKit.
